  Playing Live...The Software Vs Hardware Debate
  by wol on May 17th, 2009

The pros and cons of a software or hardware based live setup

Having spent a lot of time over the last 5 years playing live sets that were centred around a laptop and software (Ableton Live and Reason) I’d decided to trial a hardware based set-up for kamuku which would enable me to leave the laptop at home.

There is a certain amount of angst with taking a laptop out to a club. My laptop is the centre of all my music creation and work and although generally stuff is always backed up there is a fair amount of hassle if the lappie was ever stolen or damaged;

BIO

lunabass is not a species of deep-sea fish. You will not find lunabass in "Bass Strait", the sea strait separating Tasmania from the south of the Australian mainland. You could find lunabass in "Base Strait" if such a place existed and if indeed lunabass was actually a fish.

lunabass likes to write basslines that sound like someone going "wolwolwolwwwooolll" in a deep voice. lunabass goes by the name of Adrian when in the company of his mother.

lunabass gets uncomfortable talking about himself in the 3rd person whilst trying to pen his Bio. lunabass tries to include lines professing his awesomeness but cant keep a straight face.

As far as lunabass's fingers and the musical pies in which they are stuck, some of them are currently put to work within a Live A/V project called Atomitek. Featuring Dj Alex Mckenzie and lunabass on the audio production and Krafty delivering all thing visual. Live Tech in Full Effect!

Other fingers are put to work within a Live/PA and Production duo called Kamuku featuring One-Of (Chad) and lunabass. Liquid Drum & Bass is what we do and you can have a listen to us right here at lunabass.com. Kamuku...Koo Koo Ka Choo!....

having performed in many live electronic acts including 1/3rd of live house outfits "The Operators" and "Bad Jelly", lunabass still loves his 4/4 or anything with a touch of quirk.

lunabass spends the rest of his time lecturing in Electronic Music Production

so what you hear here is just me, lunabass, making "whatever takes me fancy"...
